Tips about Advisory Boards for Small Business

Small businesses benefit from Advisory Boards – especially in a tough economy. Board members can provide the outside perspective that helps you see the forest while you are looking at the trees. The right people can supply wisdom born of experience.
Look for people who can provide insight into trends, competitors and industry factors that impact the business. Consider business people that bring a Biblical perspective – their wisdom often yields eternal values that will make a difference.
Find folks with diverse skills and business experience – the butcher, the baker and the candlestick maker.
Set expectations for their time (once a month, a quarter, etc.) Talk about the nature of confidentiality for both you and for them.
Proverbs 2:2 (NLV) …make your ear open to wisdom. Turn your heart to understanding.
